Amniotic Bay draws a parallel between the nurturing qualities of amniotic fluid and the embracing environment of Riga Bay and the Kemeri wetlands. Through this metaphor, I highlight Earth as a womb-like sanctuary, where life and transformation continuously begin anew. In an era where the seas are threatened and civilization faces numerous crises, the need to protect the delicate balance of nature becomes more critical than ever.

My art seeks to create a profound connection between the viewer and the natural world, inviting deeper reflection on our relationship with the environment. The exhibition captures the enchanting landscapes of Jurmala—from the tranquil Kemeri wetlands to the reflective shores of Riga Bay—offering a site-specific exploration of place and spirit. I hope these works evoke a sense of wonder and peace, encouraging viewers to find beauty in both grand vistas and intricate details. This exhibition serves as both an artistic warning and a heartfelt plea to preserve nature’s ever-changing state, urging us to cherish the environment before it is irreversibly altered.

In my artistic practice, I focus on the essence of time, using metal leaf, drawing, and oil painting to evoke gradual physical changes and the concept of impermanence. By employing a variety of techniques, I highlight nature’s diversity and fragility, constructing my paintings in transparent layers to imbue them with depth and dimension. These methods, honed through years of dedicated study in the art of gilding, are deeply rooted in historical principles.

Amniotic Bay invites viewers to contemplate nature’s fragility and transformation, encouraging an awareness of the subtle changes in our world and a recognition of the interconnectedness of all life. By drawing attention to nature’s more challenging aspects, I aim to provoke thought and inspire action toward a more harmonious coexistence with our planet. My art reflects the ever-evolving landscape, fostering a dialogue between the viewer and the environment, and cultivating a deeper appreciation of the world’s complexities and beauty.
