Under the Skin

The woman emerges in many forms, often raw and confrontational but also intrusively or in quiet reflection. The images are sensual and opulent yet the abrupt slashes reveal the more shadowy sides of the woman.

In my series “Under the skin” I try to penetrate the skin on my portraits and uncover the body, the mind and the woman’s mysteries. It is no longer enough for me to examine the anatomical body, I want to investigate what is beneath the surface – in more than one sense.

With todays’ technology, it is possible for ever larger and more radical changes to the body. The pictures offer a commentary of how the ideal woman might look in a society where surgery on the body can be a pathway to having a body that matches todays’ ideals of beauty.
